I came across this photo on my phone today. It dates back to pre 2015 when I was asked by People Management magazine to write an article on how I helped transform the culture at one of my previous employers. It made me realise that 1) I’m as passionate about culture change and employee engagement as I was 10 years ago and 2) developing your people in an innovative way is just as relevant.
Back then, the brief was to take an established and stable workforce (some had been there for 50 years!) and engage them to help the business improve it’s performance. This involved introducing a culture programme “Stepping up to the Plate” creating an environment of learning for all our people whilst improving the way we did things.
The article speaks for itself, but the irony of it is that the company I worked with then was Axia Solutions and I worked on developing a qualification that didn’t already exist with Staffordshire University. That employee development/engagement increased profits and performance.
Fast track to 2024 and the Level 7 Apprenticeship for Senior Women Leaders is in full swing, with Axia and is the first of it’s kind – www.level7women.co.uk.
The moral of the story? Innovation is only innovation if it delivers results, other than that it’s just an idea.
